about

DS011

"ILWIWD...IDLDI" was completed during a major transitional point in my life...moving from my childhood home of 27 years to a new home with the love of my life.

The title is inspired by a student's comment about a homework lesson that I was made privy to.

"The Album So Nice...It Wasn't Recorded the Same Twice..."

Because of this shift of venue...songs were never recorded the same way twice. Their inceptions are spread out across two locations with hundreds of variations of gear setups- both of the electronic and acoustic variety- with varying tones, EQs, effects, amps, frames of mind, etc. It is not a perfect album by any means...but what "rock" album is in an era of auto-tune, beat mapping and other bull?

Each song was spawned from a riff, improvisation, loop or an otherwise "rejected" idea and was turned into a fully-fleshed out tune usually within a day. Over the next year- finishing touches were applied.

The entire album is instrumental (well, besides one vocoder part and two voicemail recordings) for a specific reason- to encourage collaboration. I wish for these songs to be sung over, used in films, commercials, and so much more- and delivering them without the burden of my voice made that idea so much easier to achieve.

Please be in touch to work with me on these or future endeavors.
Please enjoy this venture through the last year of my life.
